Caruthers Marine - The
Caruthers Family has a long legacy of serving the public. In 1933 my
grandfather (Thomas Armstrong Caruthers) started the Crystal Ice
Company serving many customers throughout Mississippi and Louisiana.
In the early 1950's my dad Tom (Thomas Armstrong Caruthers Jr.)
started Tom's Sack n Pack along side Crystal Ice Co. As the 1960's
neared, it was the new age of refrigerators with ice makers that
made my dad decide to go into the air conditioning business. Since
he had an engineer's degree ( Milwaukee School of Engineering) and
had to run the ice plant compressors and generators, this gave him
hands on experience and the decision wasn't hard to make with the
A/C business up and running and during commercial and residential
sale & service. Would you believe there was nobody around that
could fix our ski boat when it broke down. My dad had enough and
opened our marine business in 1967. By this time my brother Tom
(Thomas Armstrong Caruthers III.) and I ( Mike Caruthers) started
boat racing (as teenagers). We retired in 1976, 1982 and 1997 our
boats had set many local, state, national and world records (class
C, D, E runabout and hydroplanes) that are still in the books. This
information is only to let our customers know we worked hard for our
hands on experience, we will do whatever it takes to satisfy our
customers. Big Tom is semi retired, Little Tom is now president and
runs our A/C world wide business. And for myself I still do what I
like best, running the boat side of our business. When you call for
